I don't share the perspective of this column, but Maureen Dowd does at least explain the blame-Hill-for-Bill's-misbehavior line somewhat coherently. I've heard related arguments from a surprising number of women and still don't find them compelling.
The other line of attack is this: "Hillary started, both last time and this, from a place of entitlement, as though if she reads her résumé long enough people will surrender." Here again, there may be some underlying truth, but I ...don't find the slant compelling. Hillary is smart, hard working, and possibly the best qualified candidate for president we'll ever see in terms of breadth of relevant experience. Her résumé is her best argument. If she were a man we would not call her hard work and achievements "entitlement."
And, yes, it is time for a woman president.
The reason I'm still undecided is Hillary's relationship with Wall Street. Bernie is passionate, compelling, and genuine in addressing issues of economic injustice. He may be a dreamer and a one-issue candidate, but if he were elected, he could certainly claim a mandate on that one issue.
I think democrats have a choice between two good options.
